The European Green Deal is a plan to make the EU sustainable, aiming to reduce greenhouse gases (GHGs) emissions to zero by 2050, while ensuring the well-being of economy and human health. The challenge is to turn climate and environmental obstacles into opportunities, while making the transition just and inclusive for all. It counts on 50 specific actions to make Europe the first climate-neutral continent by 2050. These actions comprise of measures to protect the ecosystems, ensure more sustainable food systems (Farm2Fork) and policies to transition agriculture from intensive to sustainable systems. A healthier and more sustainable EU food system is a keystone of the European Green Deal. By increasing organic and sustainable farming, Europeans will have access to healthy and affordable food. Hence, it will be possible to protect the environment and preserve the biodiversity while ensuring a fair economic return for farmers while tackling climate change.
