Artificial Intelligence (AI) systems and integrated sensors can detect and target weeds and other pests to assist farmers in deciding which herbicides to apply within a sustainable goal. In this sense, AI and data companies are helping farmers to get alerts on their smart devices about pest events likely to occur on a particular crop or farm. This can be done by resorting to the use of new satellite images against historical data or simply use drone or other source images together with AI algorithm to help detect pests present in crops. In this training farmers will learn how to use this information and timely remove the (costly) pests in their fields. This will help to prevent over-application of herbicides and excessive toxins that find their way into the environment and final food products.
